It seems only fitting for a page entitled HOME to be about things that make us smile, ponder, laugh, and reflect. This page is dedicated to musings, flights of fancy, antidotes, favorite books, and spiritual recipes for revelation.

"Between God and His creation there exists only a relationship of love, a love that truly binds, a love that unites God and man in an eternal relationship of oneness.".
- The Gift of Love by Joel Goldsmith

The Gift of Love - It's A Dog's Life

I was talking with a friend who has a two-year old boy and a five-year old dog. She was explaining how every now and again her boy tests the limits of their dog. Once he actually pounced on the dog's tail while other times he just pokes and prods the animal. I asked her how the dog handles those situations, how does he let your boy know he has had enough? She paused to smile and then replied, "The dog simply licks his face."

The dog's response inspired me. How many times have you been in a difficult or unsettling situation and your first response was love? In the case of my friend's dog, the dog transformed the moment with one lick of his tongue and love prevailed.

Typically, in difficult situations emotions and ego surface so quickly you forget your true nature and the extraordinary power of choice; which is why in the heat of the moment, you forget to choose love. Not surprisingly, you also forget you are spiritually connected to the source of your upset. In truth, every difficult situation is an opportunity for personal growth and transformation.

Love begets love and when you express love, you express God. Another name for God is love. Each day it's important to remember you are a spiritual being who has been blessed with an infinite capacity to love. Love comes from the heart, which feels and expresses love. Unlike the mind, the heart has the ability to respond infinitely and instantane-ously through love. You cannot think your way to love; you can only feel your way to love. When you keep your anger bottled up in your mind, you are giving your ego time to justify itself and to rationalize the reasons why you are right and the other person is wrong; an action that can keep you angry for days. However, when you consciously move from your head to your heart, there is no ego to satisfy and nothing to keep you from joyfully expressing love. The key to happiness and well-being is love.

When you consciously express love, you feel alive, free, joyous, and fulfilled. And while I don't always recommend you lick the face of the person who appears to be testing you, I do recommend you take a deep breath, move from your head to your heart, and allow your innate and divine connection to love to instinctively respond.
